Moldova Negotiates with Europe. People in Răzeni Ask: What Will We Live on Tomorrow?
The Republic of Moldova Opens First EU Negotiation Cluster. PDA: “We Want Real Europe, Not a Cardboard One.”
Chișinău — The “Democrația Acasă” Party welcomes the European Union’s decision to open the first negotiation cluster with the Republic of Moldova. The opening of Cluster 1 “Fundamental Values” in Luxembourg is a historic moment — Europe extends its hand, and that hand means rule of law, order, good roads and modern hospitals.
Unfortunately, in Chișinău, the current government has turned “European integration” into a party brand and an electoral scarecrow.
The opening of negotiations is not a grade A for the government. It is a credit of trust extended to the Moldovan people. While you cut ribbons and take selfies in Brussels, the people of Răzeni, Florești and Cahul are asking themselves what they will live on tomorrow.
The justice you speak of in European chapters is blocked. You promised a clean slate, but we see the same old cronies and schemes rearranging themselves under the umbrella of European integration. The public procurement processes mentioned in this cluster are riddled with question marks, and European funds too often stop in the pockets of Chișinău’s favored firms instead of reaching village mayors — where the real battle for Moldova’s survival is being fought.
“Democrația Acasă” unequivocally supports the European path and unification with the Romanian and European value space, because it is our only chance to escape poverty and the threats from the East. But we will be there — in the streets and among the people — to hold your hands to the fire every time you attempt to steal or lie under the flag of the European Union.
We want Europe at home — but a real Europe. One with fair justice, developed villages and accountable politicians. Not a cardboard Europe, good only for electoral leaflets.
