Hundreds of Citizens at Parliament. The Government Did Not Come Out to Hear Them.

On Saturday, June 28, 2026, several hundred citizens gathered in front of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to reject the fiscal policy promoted by the PAS government — a policy that citizens consider unjust, non-transparent, and placed on the backs of ordinary people.

The protesters’ discontent is aimed directly at plans to raise VAT, which would hit food products, medicines, essential services, and the entire economy of the Moldovan household. The protesters say that while citizens are forced to tighten their belts, public offices continue to be handed out based on kinship and political loyalty.

The message from the street was firm: transparency in spending public money, no nepotism, no new taxes for a population already economically exhausted.

The people demanded:

— Cancellation of the VAT increase and all fiscal measures that drive up the cost of living;
— An immediate end to nepotism and cronyism in state institutions;
— The dismissal of officials appointed through connections and family ties;
— Full transparency over salaries, appointments, and public money;
— A government that works for the citizen, not for its own circle of interests;

And they warned: If no one hears them — they will return. In greater numbers. From all over the country.
